Lee Meadows, Ph.D., lives in Birmingham and is a science educator passionate about engaging Alabama kids in STEM education and McWane’s vital role in that. He guided the launch of Alabama STEM Council as its first Executive Director, focusing the work on the critical role of STEM education in building the thriving workforce Alabama needs. Before that he worked as professor in the UAB School of Education, guiding science teachers to improve their classroom practice with engaging, active learning. A teacher at heart, he has taught high school science, college chemistry, and many teacher education courses. He has written and spoken across his career on the teaching of evolution in the Deep South and is the author of two books on the subject.
